My name is Rachel Stevens and I have been working for over 30 years to help people lead more fulfilling and pain free lives. I offer three different approaches to help you resolve pain / posture problems / stress / emotional issues and to help free you from unwanted mind-body habits.
Self-empowerment and developing our potential underpins all three approaches.
I enjoyed the sessions immensely. Rachel is very calm and reassuring and she put me at my ease. The room in which we worked was quiet and peaceful – a place of quiet sanctuary which made me feel safe and secure.
Rachel is empathetic caring and trustworthy. I’d highly recommend Rachel to anyone searching for answers to their problems.
Rachel is perceptive, sensitive, intuitive and transformative.
Alexander Technique
The Alexander Technique is a unique method that promotes awareness of mind and body in everyday life. It reveals our patterns of tension and highlights the thought processes that in turn create discomfort, poor posture and poor performance. The Technique enables us to move more easily and to react with an increased freedom of choice. It is gentle and therapeutic and can be applied to everything we do from sitting at the desk to gardening, driving, public speaking, running, our hobbies… the list is endless. To find out more about the Alexander Technique go to Alexander Technique.
“97% of people with back pain could benefit from the Alexander Technique – it is only a very small minority of back pain sufferers that require medical intervention such as surgery.”
Jack Stern, Spinal Neurosurgeon
“I have been greatly helped by the Alexander Technique, taught by Rachel Stevens. It works! It really works! I no longer suffer chronic neck, shoulder and back pain. If I do have a recurrence I now understand why and attempt alternatives to restore my posture. If only I had been taught this as a junior doctor, I would have saved myself years of discomfort. Even writing this on my ipad with the technique I have been taught, is now not uncomfortable. I wholeheartedly recommend Rachel Stevens as an Alexander Technique practitioner. Her patience and gentle, professional manner has been invaluable”.

“Until I came to see you I was waiting for surgery. With your help I’m now completely free of back pain.”
I offer Alexander sessions to children and young people and love seeing the changes that come when tension dissolves and confidence returns. Go to Alexander Technique for Children and Young People.
Stress Illness and Pain Resolution (SIRPA)
The Stress Illness Recovery approach (SIRPA) pioneered by American physician, Dr Sarno, explores the underlying stresses that may be causing your pain or chronic symptoms. He coined the term TMS (Tension Myositis Syndrome) to describe musculo-skeletal symptoms that have a stress origin. It is also known as “Mind/Body Syndrome”. As long as severe tissue damaging causes have been ruled out, such as cancer, infection, a fracture or an auto-immune disorder, then it is possible that if you have persistent symptoms, they may be stress induced. Because symptoms of stress illness can be reversed, once the underlying causes are recognised and addressed, full recovery is possible, often when no other treatment has helped. Go to Stress Illness Recovery (SIRPA).
“Having experienced three to four months of intense shoulder pain, I never would have imagined I could be pain free. However, Rachel taught me how to identify the pain’s source and that it wasn’t physical but a stress illness. Using a variety of techniques, addressing and taking ownership of the issues at the root cause and ultimately Rachel’s guidance, I have been pain free for months now. Understanding that the mind is the most powerful part of our being has been the key”. Kay Timbrell
“I found the approach life changing. It is non-threatening, non-invasive and empowers the individual.”
PSYCH-K
Psych-K helps us to clarify our goals and then achieve them by releasing any sabotaging unconscious beliefs we may have. It is powerful, works quickly and can help with grief, loss and emotional issues, health and body issues, self-esteem, anxieties, worries and phobias, allergies and food intolerances, major life decisions and much more. Go to Psych-K.
“It can help you identify the things you want in your life. You let it become part of you and time and time again, your wish comes true.”
Each approach that I offer gives you a significant piece of the “jigsaw puzzle of healing”. Sometimes we need a range of approaches to achieve wholeness and ease. It may be that you would like to experience more than one approach and this is often useful to offer you a more “complete package”. We can discuss this in our introductory session.
